In the process of woodcarving, to get perspective, you have to turn the piece you are working on and look at it from every angle. Soft wood, like jacaranda, is very hard to work with, because it splits while it is drying. I started this before I dried the wood out. I don't have a 'drying oven' so I have to do this the old fashioned way and wait. I started this and got frustrated because parts I had already carved, I found out were too fragile to hold up when the wood started drying out. The head of the snake fell off, (which I'll have to admit I found very amusing) when the wood started drying it cracked in just the right place. I started this in 2008 and set it aside, so maybe it's dry enough to get back to it now. There was a jacaranda tree out in front of my apt. building that got struck by lightning, and when the city came to cut the rest down and remove it, they were nice enough to let me have a few pieces. Also, to be sarcastic to the gov., I would like to apologise to the taxpayers for teaching my 2 oldest children arts and crafts while I was on welfare. The State agreed with our genetic family that you cannot earn a living doing what they told my children were 'stupid, childish worthless fartsy-artsy handcraft shit'! I again sarcasticly apologise to the taxpayers for 'wasting your money'! Less Info?
